Red Cross Blood Drive
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time to increase awareness of the disease. According to the National Cancer Institute, more than 1.7 million people are expected to be diagnosed with cancer in the US this year, and more than 266,000 of those individuals will have invasive breast cancer. Cancer patients may need blood products during chemotherapy, surgery or treatment for complications. Blood transfusions are often needed by patients with cancer to help prevent life-threatening bleeding.
